The City of Ivanhoe, located in Tyler County, Texas, is a unique city nestled in the piney woods of East Texas. Ivanhoe is approximately 7 miles south of Woodville and 45 miles north of Beaumont on Texas Hwy 69/287. Lufkin, to our north on Hwy 69, is about 60 miles; and Livingston, to our west and Jasper to our east, are about 40 miles aw

Woodville, the county seat of Tyler County, hosts a variety of restaurants, medical facilities and shopping opportunities, along with a thriving cultural arts district. While Woodville fills the majority of our residents’ needs, it’s just a short drive in any direction to larger cities which provide more variety. And, If you wish still more adventure, Houston is only a two hour drive.

Although Ivanhoe was established in the early 1960s, it did not incorporate until November of 2009. The City has a population of 2,005 full-time residents. It is comprised of approximately 3900 lots, has 4 lakes, 12 parks and almost 60 miles of roads.

Ivanhoe is a diverse community, combining a resort atmosphere with lakes and woods carved out of the East Texas Big Thicket. Although it has become a city, Ivanhoe still retains its quiet charm.

Many of the property owners are “weekenders,” who come from all over to just relax in the beautiful surroundings or to enjoy boating, water sports and the fishing on our 5 lakes. Retirees, who make up another large portion of the community, along with our other permanent residents, enjoy the same benefits year round.
